Omaha Sister Cities Association’s Global Gala celebrates Omaha’s relationship with its six sister cities. Your support helps us build bridges with the rest of the world.
We are delighted to have Michael Kelly as our guest speaker.
Michael Kelly recently retired after a 48-year career writing for The World-Herald. He covered police, courts, county government and City Hall, and spent a decade as sports editor and sports columnist. For more than 25 years, he has written a general-interest column on people, institutions, trends and local culture. He has written about Omaha Sister Cities, and he and wife Barb joined the OSCA 2015 trip to Japan to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the relationship with Shizuoka.
Among his journalism honors was the American Society of Newspaper Editors’ 2003 national award for commentary and column-writing, for columns about his daughter Bridget’s survival and her advocacy for victims of sexual violence. Mike has been active in the community, serving often as emcee or speaker, including spoofing public figures in many Omaha Press Club shows. Mike and Barb have four children and 10 grandchildren.
